
Bernard F. Greene III
Senior Pastor
Bernard F. Greene III is the Senior Pastor of Anchor Church located in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania. He was born and raised in Washington, DC.
Bernard was originally ordained to the ministry at Immanuel Christian Center in Washington, DC in 2015 by his late grandfather, Pastor Flenard Melson. He also served as a member of the ministerial staff at New Birth Baptist Church in South Philadelphia for four years where he led the Men’s Ministry. Bernard received a Master of Divinity degree from Liberty University with a specialization in Biblical Studies in 2019. He is also a certified PREPARE/ENRICH Couples Assessment Facilitator. He served faithfully under the pastorship of Pastor Annie Ruth Osbourne at Mt. Olive Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ in North Philadelphia before being installed as the church's fifth Pastor.
He attended Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA where he received both his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and his Executive MBA in 1999 and 2014, respectively. He also met his wife and partner in ministry, Rita Johnson-Greene, at Drexel on the first day of undergraduate classes and they have been inseparable since then. They married in 2003 and have two daughters, Leah and Maya. They currently reside in West Philadelphia.
Bernard is a senior program manager at a top technology company and has been in the technology industry for 20+ years.
Bernard - affectionally known as "Pastor Bernard" or "Pastor B" is passionate about preaching and teaching the Word, mental health, and youth empowerment. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Greater Philadelphia YMCA and its City Advisory Committee. He is also Chair of the Drexel University Alumni Board of Governors. Pastor Bernard serves as a mentor in both formal and informal capacities and is thankful for every opportunity to preach Christ Jesus the Lord (2 Cor. 4:5).
