A Living Hope for Today & Tomorrow

Dec 28, 2025    Pastor Bernard

What if the hope we're searching for isn't something we need to manufacture or maintain, but something already established and kept for us? This powerful message from 1 Peter 1:3-5 introduces us to a revolutionary concept: a living hope that doesn't fade with our circumstances or die with our disappointments. Unlike the fragile hopes we place in holidays, milestones, or special events that lead to those 'now what?' moments that leave us feeling empty—this hope is anchored in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It's a hope that holds the future in the present because it's rooted in the past. When Christ rose from the dead, we rose with Him. This isn't wishful thinking or crossing our fingers; it's a certainty as sure as the empty tomb. The passage reveals that we've been given an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading—reserved in heaven with our name on it. Even more remarkable, we're not just waiting passively; we're being actively guarded by God's power, like soldiers protecting precious cargo. This living hope grows stronger as we get older, not weaker. It transforms how we face hurtful times, persecution, and everyday struggles. For those feeling discouraged, displaced, depressed, or in danger, this message offers a lifeline: Jesus gives hope in hurtful times. It's not on us to hold onto God—He's holding onto us, and His hand is bigger than ours.
