You're Doing Too Much

Jun 21, 2026    Pastor Bernard

This Father's Day sermon addresses the critical issue of overextension in ministry and life, using Moses' encounter with his father-in-law Jethro as the foundation. The message emphasizes that even good work can become destructive when we attempt to carry burdens beyond our capacity. Through examining Exodus 18:13-24, the sermon reveals that the Bible serves as the greatest leadership book ever written, teaching us that godly leadership requires realization of our limits, prioritization of responsibilities, and preservation of our strength for long-term faithfulness. The sermon ultimately points to Jesus Christ as the antidote for doing too much, reminding believers that Christ's finished work on the cross means we don't have to earn our salvation or prove our worth through endless striving. True rest is found not in accomplishing everything ourselves, but in trusting what Jesus has already accomplished for us.
